Dr. C.D. Srinivasmurthy believes that a healthy lifestyle is the key to a longer life

Dr. C.D. Srinivasmurthy, a senior doctor at Kamakshi Hospital in Mysore, emphasized the importance of a good lifestyle for a longer and healthier life during a special lecture on ‘Aging and Long Life’ held at the hospital auditorium in Saraswathipuram.

In his lecture, Dr. Srinivasmurthy highlighted the natural process of aging and how advancements in the medical field and technology have increased the average lifespan of individuals. He mentioned that people in countries like China and Japan are living well beyond 100 years due to their healthy lifestyle choices.

The doctor stressed the significance of maintaining good health as one ages, as repeated illnesses can lead to depression and other mental health issues. He recommended incorporating activities like yoga, physical exercises, and consuming nutritious foods to ensure proper organ function in older age.

Dr. Srinivasmurthy advised the elderly to focus on a diet low in calories, engage in light exercises such as daily walks, and consume fibrous and protein-rich foods for a healthy and long life. He also emphasized the importance of staying hydrated by drinking at least 2 liters of water daily.

Furthermore, the doctor addressed the impact of loneliness on the elderly and encouraged them to engage in activities with family members to avoid feelings of isolation. He suggested traditional practices like living with younger family members and participating in activities like gardening and music to promote mental well-being.

Additionally, Dr. Srinivasmurthy recommended fasting for at least one day a week as a way to maintain good health and prevent illnesses. He urged the elderly to embrace life with enthusiasm and maintain a healthy lifestyle to enjoy a longer and happier life.

The lecture was attended by prominent individuals including Dr. K.B. Ganapathy, Founder-Editor of Star of Mysore and Mysuru Mithra, Dr. C.G. Narasimhan, senior surgeon at Kamakshi Hospital, and other healthcare professionals.
