Drag Her! fighting game now available for free following end of development

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Fighting Chance Games, the indie studio behind the highly anticipated drag-themed fighting game, Drag Her!, made a surprising announcement on Wednesday. Despite facing financial challenges and having to disband, the studio decided to release the game for free on Steam and itch.io. The version being released is aptly named Drag Her! Failure to Launch Edition.

The game, which had been in development for three years, featured famous drag performers such as Alaska, Manila Luzon, and Kim Chi from RuPaul’s Drag RaceThe Boulet Brothers’ Dragula. The game was set to include drag queens Jiggly Caliente and Tammy Brown as assist characters and Meatball as an MC.

Drag Her! was designed to have a simpler control scheme compared to other 2D fighters, with just two buttons and an assist attack. The game was meant to be more light-hearted and fun, without the excessive violence seen in games like Mortal Kombat. The trailers showcased the game’s personality, filled with inside jokes and drag lingo.

Despite the setback, the game had garnered significant attention and had been featured at major gaming events such as Day of the Devs, the 2023 Game Awards, and the SXSW Sydney Game Festival. Fans of drag culture and gaming alike were eagerly anticipating the release of Drag Her!, and now they have the opportunity to experience the game for free.
