Warren Boys Tennis Team Triumphs Over McDowell in Thrilling Match
In a nail-biting nonregion home match, Warren’s boys tennis team emerged victorious over McDowell with a score of 3-2. The match, which started at Betts Park but had to be relocated to the Lakewood Family YMCA due to rain, showcased the resilience and determination of the Warren players.
Despite missing their third singles player due to illness, the Warren team rallied together to secure the win. Coach Thomas Pellegrino commended the players for stepping up and delivering when it mattered most.
The singles matches were intense, with Abe Wolf and Adam Strandburg putting up a tough fight but ultimately falling short. However, sophomore Lucas Thrift rose to the occasion in the third singles match, defeating his opponent in a thrilling three-set battle.
The doubles pairs of Jack Lynds and Ben Scott, as well as Brody Alexander and Collin Ellis, played crucial roles in securing the team victory. Lynds and Scott dominated their opponents with a straight-set win, while Alexander and Ellis displayed composure and determination to clinch the deciding point for Warren.
Coach Pellegrino praised the team for their outstanding performance, highlighting their ability to stay focused and composed in high-pressure situations. With this win, Warren improves to a 7-2 overall record and looks ahead to their next match against Elk County Catholic.
