Dubai Chambers Makes Waves at Africa CEO Forum in Kigali

Dubai Chambers made a significant impact at the recently concluded Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, where more than 2,500 attendees, including African presidents, government officials, and CEOs of major international and African companies, gathered to discuss key issues and opportunities in the region.

Led by His Excellency Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, the delegation participated in an interactive panel discussion and organized an event to showcase Dubai’s competitive advantages. The session focused on the services available to African companies looking to expand into global markets through Dubai, as well as the support provided to strengthen trade and investment ties with companies in Dubai.

The Dubai Chambers delegation also engaged in bilateral meetings with African government delegations, multinational companies, and major African and international institutions to explore strategies for enhancing cooperation and achieving mutual goals.

During the panel discussion titled ‘Decisive Decade for Intra-African Trade: Can the AfCFTA Deliver?’, His Excellency highlighted Dubai’s role in strengthening trade ties between Africa and the world. He emphasized the contribution of Dubai International Chamber’s representative offices in consolidating partnerships between the private sector in Dubai and the African business community.

Dubai International Chamber currently operates seven representative offices across Africa, reflecting the growing interest in African markets and the continent’s importance as a strategic trade and investment partner for Dubai’s private sector.

African markets accounted for 13.3% of Dubai’s total non-oil trade with the world in 2023, showing significant growth from 8.9% in 2014. This trend is expected to continue, driven by factors such as the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.

The 11th edition of the Africa CEO Forum was opened by His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, and organized by Jeune Afrique Media Group in collaboration with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). The forum addressed a wide range of topics including investment, climate, information technology, economic integration, infrastructure, trade, and artificial intelligence.

Dubai Chambers’ participation in the Africa CEO Forum highlights the emirate’s commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties with Africa and its role as a key player in promoting economic cooperation and growth in the region.
