Dubai’s New Traffic Plan to Expand Remote Work Policies
In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion in Dubai, authorities have approved a new traffic flow plan that will expand the implementation of flexible working hours and remote work policies within both public and private sectors. The aim of this plan is to ease traffic congestion across the bustling city, especially during peak hours.
Authorities had earlier launched a comprehensive survey to gather insights into how these steps could help ease traffic, especially during peak hours. The plan was approved by the Executive Council on Wednesday, with the goal of improving traffic flow and reducing congestion on the roads.
One of the key components of the traffic flow plan is the development of priority public bus routes to improve trip times by up to 59 per cent. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) had previously announced plans to expand Dubai’s network of dedicated bus lanes to over 20km, with the lanes set for completion between 2025 and 2027. This expansion is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of public transportation in the city.
Additionally, the plan includes a policy to encourage school students to use school transport, which is projected to improve traffic flow around schools by 13 per cent. By promoting the use of school transport, authorities hope to reduce the number of private vehicles on the roads during peak hours, further easing congestion.
The approval of this traffic flow plan comes as Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed chaired the Executive Council meeting during the Arabian Travel Market at the World Trade Centre. The council also approved a policy to boost community participation in shaping policy, legislation, and government services. This move aims to improve the quality of services by aligning them more closely with community needs and expectations, which will be identified through enhanced public engagement.
The policy will facilitate cooperation between various stakeholders to benefit the quality of life of all Dubai residents. By involving the community in decision-making processes, authorities hope to create policies and services that better serve the needs of the people.
Overall, the new traffic flow plan in Dubai represents a proactive approach to addressing the city’s traffic challenges. By expanding remote work policies, improving public transportation, and encouraging community participation, authorities are taking steps to create a more efficient and sustainable transportation system for the future.Residents and commuters can look forward to a smoother and more convenient travel experience in the coming years.
