Dubai Media Council Launches Emirati Media Talent Pledge Initiative
In a move to develop promising national media talent in partnership with the private sector, the Dubai Media Council (DMC) has announced the launch of the Emirati Media Talent Pledge initiative under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the DMC.
The announcement was made during the Arab Media Forum (AMF), which kicked off today, bringing together prominent media personalities from around the region. The AMF is being held under the umbrella of the Arab Media Summit, which also includes the Arab Youth Media Forum, the Arab Media Award, and the Arab Social Media Influencers Award.
The initiative, to be implemented by the Dubai Press Club, aims to offer mentorship, internship, and job opportunities with leading media organizations for talented individuals, primarily media students. This initiative is expected to strengthen the vibrant media sector in the emirate and has already attracted several prominent Arab and international media organizations in its first phase.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed expressed his commitment to supporting and encouraging young people, stating that initiatives like the Emirati Media Talent Pledge embody the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The goal is to provide young talents with the tools needed to thrive in an evolving media environment and contribute significantly to the nation’s progress.
The initiative aligns with the Dubai Media Council’s strategic objectives to strengthen the media sector in Dubai and nurture local media talent. The presence of top officials from participating media entities at the launch signifies the industry’s support for the initiative.
Entities such as TECOM, Asharq News, The National, Sky News Arabia, CNN Business Arabic, and others have pledged their support in the first phase of the initiative. Hesham Al Olama, Director of Strategy and Performance Management at DMC, highlighted the role of the initiative in discovering, training, and upskilling local media talents to accelerate the growth of Dubai’s media sector.
University students and young individuals interested in a media career can expect tailored internships and training programs to enhance their skills and gain hands-on experience in various aspects of media work. The initiative aims to position deserving candidates for successful careers in the industry with the support of experienced professionals guiding them at every stage.
Dr. Maitha bint Essa Buhumaid, Director of the Dubai Press Club (DPC), emphasized the importance of supporting national media talents for the sustainability and growth of the media industry in the UAE. The DPC has a track record of empowering young media professionals through tailored programs and partnerships with local, regional, and international media institutions.
