Dubai Municipality Implements Extensive Pest Control Measures in Response to Severe Weather in Dubai – UAE

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Dubai Municipality (DM) has taken proactive measures to control pests that pose a threat to public health in the city. With a focus on mosquitoes, the Municipality has implemented comprehensive strategies and programs to curb their spread and address the underlying factors contributing to their growth.

Adel Al Karrani, Director of the Public Health Services Department in Dubai Municipality, highlighted the efforts being made to control the spread of mosquitoes in various areas across Dubai. Teams have been working tirelessly to disinfect and sterilize 102 water collection sites and over 75,000 drainage outlets to prevent the breeding of mosquito larvae. The use of bacterial capsules for larval control, as well as spray and smoke pesticides for adult mosquitoes, has been instrumental in these efforts. Additionally, eco-friendly pesticides are being utilized to ensure effective control of mosquito spreading.

In collaboration with approved contracting companies, the Municipality has distributed guidelines outlining the necessary procedures for pest control measures. Regular field inspections at construction sites and strategic partnerships with relevant government entities have also been established to combat the spread of insects and mosquitoes.

To further educate the public on preventive measures, the Municipality has utilized social media platforms to spread awareness. Residents are advised to monitor water leakage from various sources and eliminate stagnant water in containers to prevent mosquito breeding. These efforts aim to create a sanitary environment free from disease-transmitting pests.

The Municipality’s constant monitoring of real-time demands and capabilities, along with the deployment of dedicated personnel and specialized skills, ensures the effective implementation of control strategies. By enhancing pest control measures, Dubai Municipality is committed to safeguarding the health and safety of all individuals in the city.

As Dubai Municipality continues its efforts to control pests and enhance public health, residents are encouraged to stay informed and follow preventive measures to contribute to a safe and disease-free environment. Through collaborative efforts and proactive initiatives, Dubai is taking significant steps towards ensuring a healthy and pest-free community.
