Dubai Press Club reintroduces media student award initiated by Mohammed bin Rashid in 2001 – UAE

Dubai Press Club has announced the launch of ‘Ibda’a – The Arab Youth Media Award’ at the Arab Youth Media Forum. This award aims to revive the Ibda’a Media Student Awards originally introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2001 to identify, recognize, and nurture young media talent.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, highlighted the importance of empowering young Arabs to become significant contributors to the development of the region’s media landscape. Inspired by Sheikh Mohammed’s vision, the award seeks to encourage Arab media students to achieve excellence in their studies and contribute to the growth of the Arab world.

The award will showcase excellence among Arab media students from universities and media schools in the region and across the world. It will feature seven categories including photography, podcasting, short video, e-sports, animation, graphics, and journalism. The ultimate goal is to foster a new generation of creative professionals who can enhance the media landscape in the Arab world.

Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, emphasized the importance of supporting the development of youth in the media sector. Dubai Press Club has been dedicated to organizing initiatives, programs, workshops, and training sessions to engage emerging and aspiring media professionals. The launch of the Ibda’a Award reaffirms their commitment to discovering and nurturing creative talent in the industry.

The announcement was made during the Arab Youth Media Forum, attended by over 1,000 young media professionals.
