Dubai Science Park Expands Storage and Logistics Capacity by 147% to Meet Growing Demand for R&D Spaces

Dubai Science Park has announced its ongoing expansion project, which will increase its storage and logistics capacity by 147%. This expansion comes in response to the rising global demand for Grade-A spaces for research and development (R&D). The announcement was made on the side-lines of the BIO International Convention held in California on 3-6 June.

The new storage and logistics spaces, spanning 200,000 sq.ft., will support the growing base of more than 500 customers at Dubai Science Park. These customers include global leaders in life sciences, energy, and environmental science such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer, BeiGene, and GE Healthcare. With over 6,500 professionals across these sectors, the expanded capacity will accelerate regional R&D innovation.

Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park at TECOM Group PJSC, emphasized the importance of scientific innovation in driving national progress. He stated, “Enabling the regional scientific industry to reach its full potential requires addressing, and often pre-empting, the needs of the community of researchers and thinkers that are redefining our collective future.”

The project, scheduled for completion next year, will increase the total gross leasable storage area to 336,000 sq.ft. at Dubai Science Park. This expansion will benefit industry leaders such as Epygen Labs, Elixir Pharma, and Al Wakeel Recycling, which operate facilities at the science hub.

The new storage and logistics spaces, comprising 26 units with high power load capacity, will range from 6,000 sq.ft. to 16,000 sq.ft. to cater to various business needs. The strategic location of Dubai Science Park provides access to key transport networks, including Al Maktoum International Airport, which is set to become a multimodal logistics hub.

The demand for prime industrial and logistics land has been on the rise in Dubai, driven by institutional investment, pro-innovation legislation, and a growing e-commerce market. The expansion of Dubai Science Park will support the healthcare and biotech sector, as government initiatives aim to enhance treatment and research for preventative and personalized healthcare.

The announcement of the expansion project coincided with Dubai Science Park’s participation in the BIO International Convention, where it showcased its role as a global innovation hub for biotech development. The park is part of TECOM Group’s portfolio of business districts, which includes Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, and Dubai Design District (d3).

Overall, the expansion of Dubai Science Park’s storage and logistics capacity reflects the region’s commitment to fostering scientific advancements and supporting the growth of R&D in key industries. With the completion of this project, the park is poised to meet the evolving needs of its customers and drive sustainable innovation in the region.
