Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Food Innovation Conference 2024 is set to kick off tomorrow in Dubai, promising to bring together international experts, academics, businesses, and farmers to discuss the future of food systems. Organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), the conference will run from 13th to 15th May under the theme “Reimagining Future Food Systems”.

With over 150 participants from around the world, the event will be hosted at the Museum of the Future and Emirates Towers in Dubai. The focus will be on driving tech support for resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems, as well as addressing the latest trends in sustainable food systems.

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of MBRGI, highlighted the importance of the conference in aligning with the visions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The goal is to create cost-efficient food systems that empower underprivileged communities and address food challenges resulting from natural disasters, crises, and climate change impacts.

The conference will showcase best international practices and studies in the food sector, along with the latest technologies such as AI and Data for Food. It aims to accelerate knowledge exchange and capacity building through the Food Innovation Hubs Global Initiative, which promotes partnerships and collaboration in food system innovation.

The event will kick off with a welcoming dinner gala on 13th May, featuring keynote speeches by prominent figures in the food and environmental sectors. The opening session on 14th May will focus on “Purpose-Driven Innovation for a Positive Food Future”, with panelists from various industries sharing their insights.

The conference will also host a session on “Advancing Global Frontier Innovations” and a closing plenary on “Reimagining Future Food Systems”. Field trips on the last day will take participants to farms and production plants in the UAE to showcase innovative practices in achieving food sustainability.

In addition to the discussions and panels, the conference will also feature an open exhibition showcasing the latest food system innovations. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about modern technologies shaping the future of food systems and even taste and try innovative products.

The Food Innovation Hubs Leadership Committee meeting will be held on the sidelines of the conference, following an agreement signed between MBRGI and the World Economic Forum. Dubai has been designated as the international headquarters for the Hubs annual meeting, further solidifying its commitment to sustainable food systems.

Overall, the Food Innovation Conference 2024 in Dubai promises to be a platform for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing in the food sector. With a focus on sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience, the event aims to drive positive change in the global food system landscape.
