Dubai Ranks 11th Globally in Leading Maritime Capitals Index

Dubai has once again proven its status as an international maritime hub by securing the top spot in the Arab world and ranking 11th globally in the 2024 Leading Maritime Cities (LMC) report. This marks a significant improvement from its previous position, moving up two places compared to the 2022 report. The report, launched in Singapore by DNV and Menon Economics, highlighted Dubai’s achievements in five key factors: shipping centres, maritime technology, ports and logistics, attractiveness and competitiveness, as well as financial and legal aspects.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), commended the efforts of the Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA) in enhancing Dubai’s leading position on the global maritime map. He credited the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the constant support from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for Dubai’s success on the global stage.

The Dubai Maritime Authority has been instrumental in spearheading Dubai’s progress in the maritime sector through strategic plans and initiatives aimed at enhancing competitiveness and driving sustainable growth. The Authority’s commitment to research, development, and innovation has positioned Dubai as a global leader in integrated logistics programmes, adhering to the highest safety standards and environmental practices.

Dr. Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al-Maktoum, Executive Director of the DMA, emphasized the Authority’s comprehensive development strategy and its focus on advancing Dubai’s position as a global hub for security, technology, financial matters, and green technology. Dubai’s achievements in the Leading Maritime Capitals index reflect its strength and economic attractiveness, distinguishing it as a leader in advanced areas of security and technology.

In addition to the LMC ranking, Singapore retained its title as the leading maritime city in the world for 2024. Dubai’s success in leading the Arab maritime capitals and ranking 11th globally underscores its commitment to advancing its global position and excelling in the vital maritime sector. The city’s accent on green technology in the maritime sector has also earned praise, further solidifying its reputation as an innovative and sustainable maritime hub.

Overall, Dubai’s rise in the Leading Maritime Capitals index is a testament to its continuous efforts to enhance its maritime sector and strengthen its position on the global stage. With strategic plans, initiatives, and a commitment to excellence, Dubai is poised to maintain its status as a key player in the international maritime community.
