Dubai’s government entities work tirelessly to restore services and traffic flow after extreme weather conditions
Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, various government entities in Dubai are working around the clock to restore services and ensure smooth traffic flow following recent extreme weather conditions.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Municipality have been proactive in minimizing disruptions across the city. Measures taken include draining waterlogged areas, conducting cleaning operations, rerouting traffic, and restoring public transport services.
The RTA confirmed that a comprehensive plan enabled the swift restoration of operations on main streets and the full resumption of Dubai Metro services within two days. This was all done while prioritizing the safety and security of the community.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of RTA, highlighted the integrated plan developed by the authority to address potential weather-related disruptions. The plan focuses on ensuring the safety of road and public transport users, facilitating swift management of water accumulations, and quickly restoring traffic on main streets.
Dubai Municipality has also mobilized its emergency field teams to address the aftermath of the unprecedented weather conditions. Efforts include managing rainwater accumulations, drainage blockages, and increased waste to maintain safety and public health for all residents.
With over 2,425 engineers, technicians, and workers on the ground, Dubai Municipality is equipped to swiftly address emergencies resulting from the impact of heavy rains. The teams are working around the clock to ensure the safety of all community members and protect lives and property.
