The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s charity, Archewell, recently faced a potential suspension from California’s charity register due to unpaid fees. However, the delinquency notice issued by the state’s attorney general has now been resolved, with the foundation being deemed “current and in good standing.”

According to a statement released by California’s Department of Justice, the necessary payments were made promptly and all required paperwork was filed without error. Sources close to the couple revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan were unaware of the issue until they received the notice, which initially led them to believe a cheque had gone missing in the post. However, after tracking the mail and finding proof of receipt, they concluded that the payment had simply not been processed.

In response to the warning from the Attorney General’s office, Archewell promptly sent another cheque to cover the cost of the charity’s annual registration renewal. The original notice listed the charity as “delinquent” for failing to submit required reports and fees, potentially leading to penalties or even suspension.

The couple, who share two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, previously explained that the charity’s name was inspired by their eldest child. Meghan described Archewell as a name that combines the ancient Greek word for strength and action, reflecting their commitment to making a meaningful impact through their charitable endeavors.
