Dustin Poirier Rejects Fourth Conor McGregor Fight Due to Negative Energy

Reading Time: < 1 minute

After a decade of high-profile bouts, Dustin Poirier is ready to move on from his rivalry with Conor McGregor. The two UFC stars first met at UFC 178 in 2014, where McGregor emerged victorious. However, Poirier got his revenge in their last two meetings at UFC 257 and UFC 264.

Despite McGregor’s insistence on settling the score, Poirier is focused on his upcoming challenge against Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title at UFC 302. McGregor, on the other hand, is set to return to action at UFC 303 after a lengthy hiatus due to a leg injury sustained in the UFC 264 bout.

Poirier made it clear that he is no longer interested in facing McGregor again, stating, “All I want is the UFC lightweight championship.” Since his last victory over McGregor, Poirier has had mixed results in the octagon, including a failed title bid against Charles Oliveira and a win over Chandler.

McGregor’s behavior after the UFC 264 loss, where he made threatening remarks towards Poirier and his wife, has likely further soured any chances of a rematch. Poirier emphasized that he does not need that negative energy in his life and is content to move on from the rivalry.

As both fighters prepare for their respective upcoming bouts, it seems that the chapter of McGregor vs. Poirier may have come to a close, with Poirier setting his sights on the lightweight title and McGregor looking to make a successful comeback after his injury layoff.
