Dutchess Tourism Hosts Annual Brochure Exchange to Kick Off Summer Travel Season

POUGHKEEPSIE- Dutchess Tourism, the official destination marketing organization for Dutchess County, recently hosted its annual brochure exchange at the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum in Poughkeepsie. The event, held on May 9, 2024, brought together forty tourism-related businesses to network and collaborate in preparation for the upcoming summer travel season.

During the event, Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Dutchess Tourism President & CEO Melaine Rottkamp recognized individuals certified as Dutchess Tourism Ambassadors and shared their outlook for the upcoming travel season in Dutchess. Rottkamp emphasized the importance of the tourism industry as an economic powerhouse, job creator, and community builder.

As part of the lead-up to National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) from May 19 to 25, 2024, Dutchess Tourism will be visiting businesses to promote tourism initiatives and strengthen partnerships within the community. Additionally, Dutchess Tourism will be hosting a Legislative Networking Reception in collaboration with the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association on May 23, 2024, to address pressing issues affecting the industry.

The commitment of Dutchess Tourism extends beyond promotion to workforce development initiatives, including the Certified Tourism Ambassador™ (CTA) course and the Guest Service Gold Tourism® (GSGT) program. These programs aim to equip hospitality professionals with the necessary skills to deliver outstanding service and enhance the overall visitor experience in the Hudson Valley.

Looking ahead, Dutchess County will continue its Rev250 celebrations, commemorating America’s semiquincentennial with events like RevCon 2024 on June 8 at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. These celebrations highlight Dutchess County’s rich history and vibrant culture, inviting locals and visitors to join in the festivities.
