The Youngsville Eagles soared to a 9-4 victory over the Cambridge Springs Blue Devils in a thrilling baseball game on Monday at Davis Street Field. With the playoffs looming, the Eagles secured a crucial win to move closer to a second-place finish in Region 3.

Senior righty Nathan Lucks took the mound for Youngsville and delivered a solid performance, allowing just one run on five hits over three and two-third innings. Coach Eddie Dorunda made a strategic decision to start Lucks, knowing the challenge posed by Cambridge Springs’ ace pitcher.

The Eagles’ offense provided early support with runs from David Manning and Talon Mesel, giving them a 2-1 lead. In the fourth inning, Youngsville exploded for five runs to extend their lead to 7-1, thanks to key hits from Manning, Braydon Baker, and Matt DeSimone.

Although Cambridge Springs fought back with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, Youngsville maintained control of the game. Manning, who had a standout performance with two hits and two RBIs, closed the door on the Blue Devils in the final inning to secure the win.

With the victory, Youngsville improved to 14-3 overall and 12-3 in Region 3, setting the stage for a rematch with Maplewood on Wednesday. The Eagles are determined to avenge one of their three losses this season and continue their quest for a successful playoff run.
