Kennedy High School’s baseball team secured their fourth consecutive district title with a 2-0 victory over Mineral Ridge. Despite a lackluster offensive performance, coach Jim Ciambotti praised his team’s pitching and defense for giving them a chance to win. Junior Freddy Bolchalk delivered a stellar pitching performance, striking out nine batters in the game.
Kennedy’s offense managed to score two runs, with Andrew Lapolla and Santino Ciambotti contributing to the scoring. Looking ahead, Coach Ciambotti emphasized the need for more consistency and production from his team’s offense, especially with tough competition looming in the regionals.
On the other side, Mineral Ridge, led by coach Anthony Ragozine, showed resilience despite the loss. With a young team featuring several underclassmen, Ragozine sees potential for growth and success in the future. The team’s experience in reaching the district title game for the first time in decades will serve as motivation for the players to continue improving.
As Kennedy celebrates their district title win, they are now focused on preparing for the challenges that lie ahead in the regionals. With a strong core of players and a winning mentality, the Eagles are determined to make a deep playoff run. Mineral Ridge, on the other hand, is already looking towards next season, eager to build on their accomplishments and strive for even greater success.
