ECW Executive Director Yasmine Sherif Launches #ShareTheirVoices Global Advocacy Campaign Ahead of United Nations Summit on Education

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Education Cannot Wait (ECW) is making a global plea for urgent action to ensure that every crisis-affected girl and boy has the right to inclusive and equitable quality education. With over 226 million children worldwide impacted by crises in need of education, ECW is calling for increased funding through their #ShareTheirVoices campaign.

The United Nations warns that without additional resources, millions of children will be left without access to education by 2030, leading to a lack of basic skills and hindering progress towards universal secondary education. Low- and lower-middle income countries face a significant financing gap to meet their education targets.

ECW has already mobilized $900 million towards their $1.5 billion funding target, but they urgently need an additional $600 million to reach 20 million crisis-affected children and adolescents with the safety, hope, and opportunity of quality education.

The #ShareTheirVoices campaign highlights the stories of children from crisis-affected areas like Afghanistan, Gaza, North-East Nigeria, and Ukraine, where conflict, displacement, and other crises have disrupted their access to education. These children, like Aisha from Nigeria and Anastasia from Ukraine, share their dreams of becoming teachers and doctors despite the challenges they face.

As a global community, it is crucial to #ShareTheirVoices and #ActNow to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the right to education. Quality education is not only life-changing but also lifesaving for these vulnerable children. Let’s come together to support ECW’s mission and provide hope and opportunity to those who need it most.
