In a surprising turn of events at the Cannes Film Festival, actor Ed Harris has announced his directorial debut with the adaptation of Kim Zupan’s neo-noir novel, ‘The Ploughmen.’ The film promises a gripping narrative with a star-studded cast including Nick Nolte, Bill Murray, and Owen Teague.
‘The Ploughmen’ explores the unlikely bond between a young deputy sheriff and a seasoned killer. Nick Nolte will portray John Gload, a notorious murderer whose encounter with law enforcement takes an unexpected turn. Owen Teague plays Val Millimaki, the young deputy who forms a connection with Gload, seeking guidance from the very man he’s meant to detain. Bill Murray rounds off the trio as the overseeing sheriff.
Harris, alongside producers Ginger Sledge and Robert Knott, aims to bring Zupan’s tense and psychologically deep narrative to life. The movie is set to begin production in Montana later this fall, promising a world where morality blurs and alliances are formed.
For Harris, ‘The Ploughmen’ marks his third directorial venture, following the success of ‘Appaloosa’ and ‘Pollock.’ Joining the cast and crew are Amy Madigan and Lily Harris, adding to the anticipation surrounding this neo-noir adaptation.
With production underway, audiences can expect a captivating and immersive cinematic experience as ‘The Ploughmen’ makes its mark on the big screen.
