EDB, Sheraa, and SCCI introduce groundbreaking Center of Excellence to boost UAE’s advanced manufacturing and CPG capabilities

Emirates Development Bank (EDB), Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking initiative in the UAE – the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Advanced Manufacturing and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG). This collaboration aims to drive innovation in the manufacturing industry by supporting startups and fostering an entrepreneurship culture in the country.

The signing ceremony, which marked the beginning of this strategic partnership, was attended by key figures including H.E. Ahmed Mohamed Al Naqbi, CEO of EDB; H.E. Najla Ahmed Al Midfa, CEO of Sheraa; and H.E. Mohamed Al Awadhi, Director General of SCCI. Together, these organizations will provide startups in the advanced manufacturing sector with the necessary resources and connections to thrive and grow.

The CoE for Advanced Manufacturing and CPG will offer a range of services to startups, from knowledge-sharing to market access to financing. EDB will provide SME incubation and equity financing support for early-stage businesses, while also offering preferential financing terms for more established SMEs. SCCI will facilitate market entry and export opportunities, and Sheraa will provide mentorship and guidance to selected startups.

H.E. Ahmed Mohamed Al Naqbi emphasized the importance of this initiative in accelerating the adoption of advanced manufacturing techniques among UAE-based enterprises. He highlighted the role of strategic partnerships in empowering SMEs and propelling economic growth by providing startups with the tools they need to access finance and thrive in a competitive global marketplace.

H.E. Najla Ahmed Al Midfa expressed Sheraa’s commitment to driving innovation in Sharjah’s manufacturing sector through the CoE. She believes that this partnership will empower startups to redefine industry innovation and contribute to Sharjah’s sustainable economic progress.

H.E. Mohamed Al Awadhi reaffirmed SCCI’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and driving entrepreneurial growth across key sectors. He emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment for startups and SMEs to engage in innovation-driven industrial sectors.

The CoE for Advanced Manufacturing and CPG is seen as a quality addition to the UAE’s sustainable industrial growth. H.E. Al Awadi believes that this initiative will elevate the country’s stature as a premier industrial hub by reinforcing the use of advanced technologies and Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions.

Overall, the launch of the Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing and CPG represents a significant step towards driving innovation and empowering startups in the UAE’s manufacturing industry.
