Education Cannot Wait and NABU Celebrate World Book Day with the Release of Children’s Book, Zaya’s Dream

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a groundbreaking collaboration, nonprofit publisher NABU and Education Cannot Wait (ECW) have unveiled a new children’s book titled “Zaya’s Dream” to shed light on the challenges faced by refugee children worldwide. Launched on World Book Day, the book follows the journey of Zaya, a young girl forced to flee her home and find hope in a refugee camp learning center.

Through Zaya’s story, readers are given a glimpse into the struggles and resilience of millions of children affected by crises around the globe. With children and youth accounting for 40% of the world’s refugees, the importance of education for these vulnerable populations cannot be overstated.

ECW, a global fund for education in emergencies, focuses on providing quality education to refugees and displaced children in crisis situations. By investing in holistic education programs, ECW aims to not only improve academic outcomes but also address the mental health and psychosocial needs of these children.

NABU, a multilingual publisher specializing in mother tongue stories, aims to provide inclusive access to literacy for every child. Through their partnership with ECW, NABU hopes to create a collection of stories that will reach millions of children in need, starting with “Zaya’s Dream.”

The creators of the book, Yasmine Sherif from ECW and Isabel Sheinman from NABU, emphasize the power of education to protect and empower children like Zaya who are caught in the midst of conflicts and disasters. They hope that “Zaya’s Dream” will inspire readers to take action and support the education of crisis-affected children worldwide.
