The Jerome School District has announced the appointment of Brent Johnson as its new superintendent. Johnson, currently the principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Wausau, Wisconsin, will assume his new role on July 1.

Johnson’s selection comes after he received the prestigious national Blue Ribbon Schools Award in 2020 for his outstanding leadership and the remarkable academic growth achieved at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. The School Board Trustees expressed confidence in Johnson’s ability to lead the district towards a bright and promising future.

In a press release, the board stated, “Brent Johnson brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership to our district and is well-prepared to lead our schools into a bright and promising future. After much deliberation and consideration of community feedback, the School Board Trustees selected Brent Johnson.”

The board highlighted Johnson’s strong communication and leadership skills as key factors in their decision. Johnson expressed his excitement about joining the Jerome School District and is eager to contribute to the district’s continued success.

In addition to this announcement, the Twin Falls School District is introducing a new dual language immersion program at Oregon Trail Elementary, and the Declo High School Jazz Band recently achieved success at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. The community is also invited to attend a presentation on the upcoming levy election at Buhl High School Library on May 8.
