Eisenhower’s Austin Hanson Named Region 3 Player of the Year
The Eisenhower Knights had a remarkable season, finishing as tri-champions of District 10’s Region 3 and advancing to the “Sweet 16” in the PIAA state playoffs. Among the many accolades received by the team, freshman Austin Hanson stood out as he was named the Region 3 Player of the Year.
Hanson, who averaged 15.4 points and nearly 7 rebounds per game, showcased his talent and dedication throughout the season. His impressive performance on both ends of the court, shooting 81% from the free-throw line, earned him this prestigious honor.
Eisenhower head coach Ryan Mangini praised both Hanson and senior Kyler Black, who was named to the Region 3 First Team. Mangini highlighted Black’s versatility as a scorer and passer, emphasizing his impact on the team’s offense. Regarding Hanson, Mangini commended his work ethic and consistency, noting his contributions as a scorer, defender, rebounder, and ball handler.
The Region 3 coaches also recognized other standout players, with Parker Schmidt from Cambridge Springs, Walker Carroll from Cochranton, Cody Huson from Saegertown, and Owen Riley from Cambridge Springs joining Hanson and Black on the First Team.
As the Knights celebrate their successful season and the individual achievements of their players, the honor of being named Region 3 Player of the Year solidifies Hanson’s place as a rising star in high school basketball.
