El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has made a groundbreaking announcement, offering 5,000 free passports to highly skilled individuals from around the world. The beneficiaries of this scheme include scientists, engineers, doctors, artists, and philosophers, who will be granted full citizen status, including voting rights in El Salvador.

In a tweet on Sunday, Bukele stated, “We’re offering 5,000 free passports to highly skilled scientists, engineers, doctors, artists, and philosophers from abroad.” He emphasized that this initiative, equivalent to $5 billion in their passport program, is aimed at securing a bright future for El Salvador.

The President highlighted that despite the small number of beneficiaries, their contributions will have a significant impact on the society and the country’s future. Additionally, El Salvador will not impose any taxes or tariffs on the relocation of families and assets by the recipients of the free passport scheme.

El Salvador, the smallest country in Central America with a population of less than one crore, has been grappling with issues of gang violence and homicides. However, the government’s efforts, including a state of emergency declaration to combat crime gangs, have led to a significant decrease in violent incidents.

This initiative by President Bukele is a bold step towards attracting top talent to contribute to the development and progress of El Salvador. It not only showcases the country’s commitment to innovation and growth but also opens up new opportunities for skilled individuals worldwide.
