Elementos’ Oropesa Tin Project to Resume Approvals and DFS

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Elementos Limited (ASX:ELT) Managing Director Joe David has announced the recommencement of DFS and licensing activities at the company’s flagship Oropesa Tin Project in Spain following discussions with the Andalusian government. The decision to restart these activities was prompted by negotiations with the Andalusian authorities, which resulted in modifications to the project layout to minimize disturbance to the natural environment.

Key modifications made to the project include shifting the location of external waste dumps to reduce impact on trees, relocating the tailings dam to a more environmentally friendly location, and adjusting access roads to avoid overlapping with a stock cattle route. These changes were made in agreement with the Andalusian government and are expected to facilitate the approval process for the project.

Elementos MD Joe David highlighted the support of the Andalusian government as crucial for the project’s development, noting that the government is keen to back major projects in the region to stimulate economic growth. The company is optimistic about the support received from various government departments and anticipates a smooth approval process for its primary licences.

In addition to the project developments in Spain, Joe David also provided insights from a tin conference in Malaysia, where he noted a significant increase in tin prices. The industry is facing impending shortages of tin, creating opportunities for project developers like Elementos to meet the growing demand. The company’s presence at the conference and the announcement of project updates are expected to generate interest and support from industry stakeholders.

Overall, Elementos Limited is poised to progress with the DFS and licensing activities at the Oropesa Tin Project, with a target timeline for resubmitting licence documents by the end of Q3 and completing the DFS by the end of calendar year 2024. The company’s commitment to environmentally conscious exploration and production aligns with the industry’s focus on sustainability and meeting future demand for tin.
