Elkins and PB athletes ready to compete at state championships | News, Sports, Jobs

The Philip Barbour athletes are gearing up for the Class AA state track and field meet at Laidley Field, with Ben Tenney leading the charge after his impressive performance at the Region II meet. Tenney dominated the competition in the 800-meter run, 1,600, and 3,200 events, earning high-point honors and helping Elkins secure the team title.

In addition to his individual success, Tenney will also be part of the 4×800 relay team alongside Josh Bodkins, Bobby Valentine, and Gavin Brown, who clinched the regional title with a time of 8:48.07. The Tigers will have three other relay teams competing at the state level, showcasing their depth and talent across various events.

Other standout athletes from Elkins include George, Ray, Carbaugh, Brown, Dean, and Bodkins, who have all qualified for multiple events. Philip Barbour will be led by Nate Hulver and Drew Morral, who both secured regional titles in their respective events and will be key contributors in the relays.

On the girls’ side, Elkins’ Emilia Tenney and Philip Barbour’s Preslea Miller are set to make their mark at the state meet after impressive performances in the regional championships. With a strong lineup of individual qualifiers and relay teams, both schools are poised for success at the state level.
