Elon Musk’s Claim That 2024 Presidential Election Could Be Last Decided by US Citizens Sparks Controversy

Tech mogul Elon Musk has stirred up controversy with his recent claim that the 2024 presidential election could be the last to be decided by US citizens. Musk attributed this prediction to what he described as an “influx” of illegal immigrants being allowed to vote in the country.

The South African-born billionaire made these comments on his social media platform, X, in response to news that Republicans in the House of Representatives passed a bill requiring citizenship status to be added to the ten-yearly census. This move was met with opposition from the White House.

Musk’s statement sparked a heated debate, with him accusing the Democratic Party of trying to disenfranchise US citizens by importing illegal immigrants. He suggested that the increasing number of illegal immigrants from various countries could impact the outcome of future elections.

Despite voting for Joe Biden in 2020, Musk has been critical of the President’s immigration policies, particularly regarding the US-Mexico border. He has advocated for making the legal immigration process easier and quicker.

The bill passed by GOP lawmakers, known as the Equal Representation Act, aims to make congressional seat allocations fairer by excluding non-citizens from the population numbers used to determine seats. This move has been supported by House Speaker Mike Johnson, who argued that only American citizens should be counted for electoral apportionment.

Critics of the bill, including the Biden Administration, have raised concerns about its constitutionality and potential impact on the accuracy of the census. Despite claims that the bill would enhance election security, many states and municipalities already prohibit non-citizens from voting.

As the debate continues, the issue of immigration and its impact on elections remains a contentious topic in US politics. Musk’s prediction has added fuel to the fire, sparking discussions about the future of electoral integrity in the country.
