Elsbury Officially Joins William Penn | Latest News on Sports and Employment

South Tama High School senior Maeley Elsbury made history last Monday by signing her letter of intent to wrestle at William Penn University in Oskaloosa. Elsbury, a two-time state place winner in wrestling, finished third in the state meet as a senior and was a state champion at 135 pounds in her junior season, becoming South Tama’s first-ever female state champion.

Throughout her high school career, Elsbury excelled in three sports – cross country, wrestling, and soccer. Reflecting on her college recruiting experience, Elsbury emphasized the importance of finding a place where she could pursue all her interests. She expressed confidence in the coaches at William Penn and believed that the girls wrestling team there would be the best fit for her.

Elbury also expressed gratitude towards the STC community for their unwavering support during her wrestling seasons and college decision-making process. She credited her parents and coaches for their support and guidance in her athletic journey.

Looking ahead to her college career, Elsbury shared her excitement about being part of a team with similar goals and aspirations. She expressed her hope of winning a national title both individually and as a team during her time at William Penn.
