Embarking on the Greatest Challenge of My Life at 51

Farrah Herbert, a 51-year-old trans woman, is gearing up for her biggest challenge yet – the nine-day endurance cycling event, Ride Across Britain. Despite her age, Farrah remains determined to push her limits and inspire others in the LGBTQ+ community to do the same.

Farrah’s journey with exercise has been a crucial part of her mental health struggles, providing an escape from negativity and releasing happy endorphins. She emphasizes the importance of staying active as we age, believing that “you don’t stop exercising because you get old, you get old because you stop exercising.”

As a trans woman, Farrah has faced discrimination, especially in the world of sports where misinformation and hatred towards transgender individuals have been prevalent. By participating in events like Ride Across Britain, Farrah hopes to break down barriers and increase visibility for the LGBTQ+ community in traditionally male-dominated spaces.

In addition to raising awareness for trans women in sports, Farrah is also fundraising for Children with Cancer UK, a cause close to her heart after her son battled Non Hodgkins Lymphoma as a child. Her story serves as an inspiration for all those facing challenges and discrimination, showing that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible.
