Embracing the Slow Fitness Trend: A Guide for Men

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Men are shifting towards a more mindful approach to fitness, with half of them embracing the ‘slow fitness’ trend for its positive impact on physical and mental health. Unlike the intense workouts that have dominated the fitness world, ‘slow fitness’ focuses on consistency and technique.

Dove Men+Care has teamed up with fitness trainer and wellness advocate, Milo McCloud, to provide five tips on how to incorporate ‘slow fitness’ habits into your routine.

Firstly, walking is highlighted as a simple yet effective way to improve circulation, enhance mood, and provide mental relaxation. By opting to walk instead of taking public transport or enjoying leisurely strolls with friends, men can stay active in a low-impact manner.

Yoga and Pilates are recommended for their focus on controlled movements, breathwork, stress reduction, and improved focus. These practices work well together for injury prevention, with yoga boosting flexibility and breathing, while Pilates strengthens core muscles and posture.

A low-intensity run at a conversational pace is suggested as a way to enjoy the scenery while keeping the heart rate low. This can also aid in post-workout recovery and muscle soreness.

Nutrition is emphasized as an essential component of any exercise routine, with a focus on nutrient-rich foods like lean protein, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables to rebuild muscle and replenish energy stores.

Lastly, feeling fresh and confident is deemed crucial for any fitness routine, with the recommendation to use a reliable deodorant to stay odor-free during workouts.

By incorporating these ‘slow fitness’ habits, men can improve their overall well-being and make exercise a more sustainable and enjoyable part of their lives.
