A family-run business out of Embrun is making waves in the autism and special needs community with the launch of their online store, Ability Hive. Co-owners Kim Vincent and Josee Martel were inspired to create the store after their own daughter, Sage, was diagnosed with autism six years ago.

The couple faced numerous challenges in finding the right products to support Sage’s needs, from weighted items to sensory-friendly bedding. They realized that there was a lack of easily accessible resources for families like theirs, leading them to create Ability Hive as a one-stop shop for those with special needs.

They also donate a percentage of their sales to local non-profits serving the autism and special needs communities.

Their ultimate goal is to open a brick-and-mortar store staffed by individuals with disabilities, providing a space for the community to come together.
