Emily Bode, known for her unique blend of history and fashion, is set to launch a nostalgic athleticwear collection in collaboration with Nike on April 18. The Bode Rec. and Nike capsule features a range of items inspired by vintage sports culture, including scrimmage jerseys, wool sweaters, pinnies, track pants, and jogging shorts.
One standout piece is the reimagined Nike Astrograbber sneaker, originally developed in the ’70s for artificial turf. The collection also includes football and baseball charms reminiscent of 1930s and ’40s sports memorabilia.
Bode’s inspiration for the collection came from a deep dive into the history of sports in America, particularly the influence of high school and collegiate athletics on shaping the nation’s values. The designer’s attention to detail is evident in pieces like a striped wool sweater inspired by a ’70s hockey jersey and a mesh pinny embellished with a felt runner and flower chain trim.
The collection, priced between $160 and $380, will be available on bode.com, select retailers, and the Nike Snkrs app. With a focus on blending fashion and function, Bode’s collaboration with Nike offers a stylish nod to the past while providing modern-day versatility for the active individual.
