Emirates and Avianca Launch New Codeshare Partnership

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, and Avianca, one of the largest Latin-American carriers, have announced the launch of a new codeshare partnership. This partnership will allow customers of both airlines to enjoy seamless connectivity on select routes, providing more convenience and travel benefits.

Customers flying from Emirates’ network via Madrid, Barcelona, or London Heathrow will now have the option to fly direct to three points in Colombia – Bogotá, Medellin, or Cali. This new codeshare agreement will offer a seamless travel experience for passengers, with tickets available for booking on emirates.com, avianca.com, the Emirates and Avianca Apps, contact centers, and through online and offline travel agents.

Starting from June 4th, codeshare flights will include routes such as Madrid to Bogotá, Medellin, or Cali; Barcelona to Bogotá; and London Heathrow to Bogotá. Avianca will also place its code on routes operated by Emirates between Barcelona, Madrid, or London Heathrow and Dubai, allowing its customers to experience Emirates’ premium services, including premium dining, lie-flat seats in premium cabins, and access to Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system with over 6,500 channels of content, including options in Spanish.

Adnan Kazim, Deputy President, and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, expressed his excitement about the new partnership, stating, “We are delighted to establish a codeshare partnership with Colombia’s largest carrier, Avianca, to provide seamless connections on select routes to customers of both airlines. The codeshare agreement will enable us to expand our reach and allow our customers to use our services and fly to additional popular points in Colombia.”

Claudio Vélez, Chief Revenue Officer of Avianca, also shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the benefits it will bring to passengers traveling between Latin America and Dubai via Europe. He stated, “This collaboration will bring our region closer to Dubai via Europe and it will also strengthen Avianca’s operation in Barcelona, Madrid, and London Heathrow. Emirates is one of the largest and most prestigious airlines in the world, so this partnership is a testimony and recognition of Avianca’s track record, our world-class operational indicators, and the strength of our route network.”

With this new partnership, customers of both Emirates and Avianca will enjoy the convenience of seamless connectivity, hassle-free booking of itineraries on a single ticket, competitive fares, and a single baggage policy checked through to the final destination. Emirates currently has commercial cooperation agreements in place with 161 interline, codeshare, and intermodal partners, further expanding its global reach and connectivity.

Overall, the Emirates and Avianca codeshare partnership is set to enhance the travel experience for passengers flying between Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America, offering more options, convenience, and benefits for travelers.
