Emma Raducanu has made the decision to withdraw from the French Open qualifying tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Monday. The 21-year-old British tennis player was initially listed on the qualifying entry list but has since been removed without any explanation provided for her withdrawal.

Ranked 221st in the world, Raducanu would have needed three players to withdraw from the main draw in order to secure a place at Roland Garros without going through the qualifying rounds. However, she has opted to focus on her fitness and preparation for the upcoming grass and hard court seasons.

Raducanu, who has a protected ranking of 103rd due to previous surgeries on her wrist and ankle, missed out on a wild card for the French Open, with organizers giving preference to French players.

The young tennis star last competed at the Madrid Open, where she suffered a first-round defeat to Maria Lourdes Carle. Since then, Raducanu has not played any competitive matches, choosing to prioritize her training and recovery.

Looking ahead, the first main event of the grass-court season is the Rothesay Open in Nottingham starting on June 10. Raducanu may also consider entering the second-tier tournament in Surbiton the week before.

Despite her absence from the French Open qualifying, fans can still catch Raducanu in action on the grass courts in the upcoming tournaments as she continues to work towards her goals in the sport.
