Empowering Women: A Call to Action

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the renowned actress and producer, is set to release a powerful documentary titled ‘Women of My Billion’ (WOMB) that sheds light on the struggles and triumphs of women in India. In a recent statement, Priyanka emphasized the long-standing gender bias that women have endured and expressed her hope for a world where every woman is appreciated, honored, and empowered to soar.

Directed by Ajitesh Sharma, ‘Women of My Billion’ follows the inspiring journey of Srishti Bakshi as she embarks on a 3,800 km walking pilgrimage from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Over the course of 240 days, Srishti aims to uncover and share stories of women, their struggles, dreams, and rights, in the face of various forms of violence and injustice.

Producer Apoorva Bakshi highlighted the documentary’s focus on the challenges faced by women in India, while also showcasing the opportunities for change brought about by digitization. He emphasized the importance of empowering women to shape a future where they can chase their dreams without constraints.

‘Women of My Billion’ is a collaborative effort between Apoorva Bakshi and Monisha Thyagarajan’s Awedacious Originals, in association with Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Purple Pebble Pictures. The documentary is set to premiere on Prime Video on May 3, offering viewers a poignant and thought-provoking look at the resilience and strength of women in the face of adversity.
