EMS track and field teams participate in league meet

The Elkins Middle School track and field teams showcased their talent at the Mid-Mountain Athletic Conference meet held at Lincoln High School this past Saturday. The EMS boys team secured a commendable third-place finish, while the girls team placed fourth out of 10 competing teams.

One standout performance came from Marissa Brenwalt, who not only broke her previous record but also set a new school record in the 100-meter dash with an impressive time of 13.35 seconds. Donovan Howes also made his mark by breaking a school record in the discus event with a throw of 126-4.

The Elkins Middle School athletes displayed their prowess in various events, with several first-place finishes to their credit. Marissa Brenwalt excelled in the 100m hurdles and long jump, while the boys 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams, as well as the girls 4×800 relay team, secured first place in their respective events.

Other notable performances included Clara Pyles finishing third in the 1600m, Treven Schaefer placing third in the 3200m, and Elias Jones excelling in the 100m and long jump events.

The Elkins Middle School track and field teams have undoubtedly set the bar high with their outstanding performances at the Mid-Mountain Athletic Conference meet. As they prepare to compete at the Lewis County Middle School Invitational, their hard work and dedication are sure to continue shining through on the track.
