The city of Mumbai is embracing the power of walking with the initiative ‘Walk With A Doc’ (WWAD), aimed at promoting physical activity, combating sedentary lifestyles, and preventing health issues in the community. Every first Sunday of the month, WWAD hosts a session where specialists discuss health topics and lead participants in interactive walking sessions.
Dr. Shirish M Hastak, Regional Director of Neurology at Gleneagles Hospitals, Parel, Mumbai, highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between patients and doctors through initiatives like WWAD. The upcoming session in April at Mahalaxmi race course will focus on arthritis, with a rheumatologist guiding participants through the topic.
These sessions provide valuable community education on various health topics, followed by a Q&A session and a 30-minute walk with the doctor. Mr. Anoop Lawrence, COO of Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai, emphasized the significance of initiatives like WWAD in promoting community health and making healthy living a lifestyle choice.
By encouraging people to prioritize their well-being, WWAD is breaking down barriers to healthy living and creating a culture where wellness is a routine part of daily life. As the initiative continues to grow, the hope is to inspire individuals to make positive choices for their health and create a brighter tomorrow for the community.
