Reading Time: 2 minutes

As the academic year 2023-2024 draws to a close, students in both public and private schools in the UAE are gearing up for their summer vacation. Following the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education, students will conclude the third and final semester on June 14, with their summer break officially starting on July 1, 2024.

The schedule, approved by the Emirates Schools Establishment, ensures that students have completed all necessary coursework and exams before heading into their well-deserved break. Final exams for the third semester began on April 15 and will run from June 5-14 for students in all grades. Results will be analyzed and released by July 5, allowing students to know where they stand academically before the start of the new academic year.

For those students who may need to retake exams for advancement purposes, re-examinations will take place from July 8-12, with results being analyzed and released from July 13-15. This ensures that all students have the opportunity to progress to the next level based on their academic performance.

The third semester, spanning 11 weeks and 53 instructional days, includes a break for Eid al-Fitr from June 15-18. Results for the semester will be analyzed and released on July 5, providing students and parents with a comprehensive overview of their academic achievements.

Looking ahead, the new academic year 2024-2025 is set to commence on August 26 and conclude on June 27, 2025, with a total of 182 instructional days. The winter break will be from December 16, 2024, to January 5, 2025, while the spring break will be from March 24, 2025, to April 13, 2025. This schedule, adopted by the Cabinet for the years 2023 to 2025, aims to provide a framework for school days and official holidays, ensuring that all educational stakeholders are on the same page.

The calendar emphasizes the importance of equal educational opportunities in private schools, sufficient instructional days to meet learning outcomes, and guidance for educational authorities and institutions in planning the academic year effectively. It also stresses the need for all government and private schools in the country to adhere to the minimum number of instructional days, ensuring that students receive the education they deserve.

As students and teachers prepare to wrap up the current academic year and embark on their summer break, the focus is on finishing strong and setting the stage for a successful start to the new academic year. With clear guidelines and a well-defined schedule, students can look forward to a well-deserved break before diving back into their studies in August.
