Job description: Job Description:SRE Alerting DeveloperYour ImpactAt Goldman Sachs, the SRE Alerting team develops and maintains Fabric and PagerDuty. Fabric is firm’s event processing and alerting system. It is part of SRE Platforms which is responsible for designing, developing, and operating distributed systems which provide observability for Goldman’s mission-critical applications and platform services. These systems span on-premises datacentres and multiple public cloud environments. We design and build highly scalable tools which provide the following functions to our global engineering teams:
- Alerting
- Metrics and monitoring
- Log collection and analysis
- Tracing
The products and services we provide to our internal customers are used by thousands of engineers every day. We believe that reliability is the most important feature of any system, and we are devoted to giving our engineers the tools they need to build and operate reliable products.We are looking for talented software engineers to work on Fabric, the Alerting system for the firm.How You Will Fulfil Your PotentialAs a developer in the SRE Alerting team, you will work with customers, product owners, and SREs to design and develop a large-scale distributed system to handle alert generation and routing. You will run a production environment spanning cloud and on-prem datacentres. You will define observability features and drive their implementation.Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, Go, JavaScript, Spring framework
- Excellent programming skills – developing, debugging, testing and optimizing code
- Experience with algorithms, data structures and software design
- Experience with distributed systems design, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Comfortable with technical ownership, managing multiple stakeholders, and working as part of a global team
Preferred Experience
- Experience with distributed databases like MongoDB and/or Elasticsearch
- Experience with open-source messaging systems like RabbitMQ and/or Kafka
- Systems experience in UNIX/Linux and networking, especially in scaling for performance and debugging complex distributed systems
- Knowledge of cloud native solutions in AWS or GCP
