Enhancing Member Experiences at Your Fitness Center

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Fitness clubs are taking a new approach to member satisfaction by investing in recovery spaces and luxurious amenities. According to Fabiano, clubs are dedicating between 600 to 2,000 square feet to these spaces, providing members with a place to relax and rejuvenate after their workouts.

West Wood Clubs in Dublin, Ireland, recently opened a new recovery room at its Sandymount location, complete with heated hydrotherapy massage and cryotherapy beds. The Clontarf Club underwent a major renovation to expand its spa area, offering two Jacuzzis, a sauna, steam room, ice room, salt room, heated loungers, and a cold plunge pool. Managing director Karen Polley notes that members are loving the new spa area, with usage skyrocketing.

Longevity Club has also embraced the trend, creating a dedicated stretching and recovery area and offering acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, and functional medicine services in-house. Owner Jennie Brooks emphasizes the importance of providing convenience and a variety of services under one roof to cater to members’ needs.

Healthworks Fitness Clubs in Boston unveiled the Restore Spa after refurbishing its flagship facility, featuring a cold plunge pool, infrared sauna, eucalyptus steam room, whirlpool, spa showers, and restorative massage services. President Mark Harrington highlights the importance of prioritizing recovery and longevity services alongside traditional fitness offerings.

In addition to recovery spaces, clubs are upgrading locker rooms, lobbies, and reception areas to create a welcoming and luxurious atmosphere. From heated shower floors to amenity bars with complimentary snacks, clubs are focusing on every detail to enhance the member experience and encourage repeat visits.

These design upgrades come at a cost, but club owners like Polley understand the importance of reinvestment to meet the evolving needs of members and stay ahead of the competition. By offering a comprehensive experience that goes beyond traditional workouts, clubs are creating a unique and engaging environment that keeps members coming back for more.
