Clear Becomes Official TSA PreCheck Enrollment Provider at 13 U.S. Airports
Travelers can now enroll in and renew their TSA PreCheck memberships through Clear at 13 U.S. airports, with New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) being the latest addition to the list. Clear, known for its expedited security program, joined providers Idemia and Telos in offering enrollment services for the Trusted Traveler Program.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) authorized Clear as the third TSA PreCheck enrollment provider in April 2023, but the official rollout didn’t happen until April 30, 2024. Clear and TSA PreCheck applicants can now apply for both programs as a bundled deal, sharing minimal information between the two applications.
To sign up for TSA PreCheck through Clear, travelers can either preenroll online or visit one of the 13 available Clear enrollment locations at various airports across the country. More airports are expected to offer Clear enrollment services in the future, according to the TSA.
While Clear typically costs $189 annually and TSA PreCheck starts at $78 for a five-year membership, those who enroll in TSA PreCheck through Clear can access both programs for a discounted price of $200. Renewal options are also available online through Clear, Telos, or Idemia for a standard price, with the option for TSA PreCheck users to renew through Clear at a discounted bundle price.
The partnership between Clear and TSA PreCheck was established under the TSA Modernization Act and the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act of 2018, aiming to provide travelers with a faster and more efficient airport experience. Certain credit cards also offer statement credits to cover the application costs associated with both Clear and TSA PreCheck, making it easier for travelers to enjoy these benefits.
