Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Maidaan’ opened in theatres with a bang, raking in Rs 7.25 crore on its first day at the box office. Despite the big holiday of Eid, the film’s numbers were surprisingly low, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar also had high praise for the film after watching it at a special screening in Mumbai. He commended Ajay Devgn’s performance and the portrayal of Syed Abdul Rahim’s dedication to football, which brought pride to India.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, ‘Maidaan’ showcases the story of Syed Abdul Rahim’s contribution to Indian football, with Ajay Devgn in the lead role. The film also features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh in key roles.
