The MTV Movie and TV Awards have been axed for 2024, with plans to return in 2025 with a “re-imagined format”. Barrymore was expected to return in 2024, but it’s uncertain if she will be back in 2025. The MTV Video Music Awards are still set to go ahead in New York on September 10.
In other news, Jason Aldean will pay tribute to the late Toby Keith at the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards. The 59th ACM Awards, hosted by Reba McEntire, will take place in Texas. Luke Combs leads the nominations with eight nods, followed by Megan Moroney and Morgan Wallen with six each. The awards will stream live on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch.
Meanwhile, George Clooney is set to make his Broadway debut in a stage adaptation of ‘Good Night, and Good Look’ in spring 2025. The historical drama focuses on 1950s television news in the United States. Clooney will play journalist Edward R. Murrow, with the production directed by David Cromer.
Lastly, Nicolas Cage, Heather Graham, and Stephen Dorff are teaming up for a new Western film, ‘The Gunslingers’.
