Yuba County Entrepreneurs Compete in “Shark Tank” Inspired Event for $10,000 Prize

The excitement was palpable as 10 Yuba County entrepreneurs took the stage to pitch their businesses in a “Shark Tank” inspired event sponsored by Yes to Yuba and the Sacramento Valley Small Business Development Center. The competition was fierce, with each entrepreneur vying for a chance to win the $10,000 grand prize.

One of the standout pitches came from Ashley Cummings, co-owner of 2Talls Sweet Treats, who wowed the judges with her colorful presentation complete with ice cream samples, confetti, and a large foam ice cream hat. Cummings’ enthusiasm and creativity paid off as she walked away with the $10,000 prize.

In second place were the owners of Emmylous Hot Food, a future restaurant concept, who took home $7,500. Tied for third place were Rodent Wrangler and Western Equine Wellness, each receiving a $5,000 prize.

The judges, including Matthew Alix Jr., were impressed by the confidence, enthusiasm, and market understanding displayed by the entrepreneurs. Alix noted that Cummings’ slide deck and presentation were particularly strong, and her emotional connection to her business resonated with the audience.

Rachel Downs, a business engagement manager for Yes to Yuba, expressed hope for future events like this one, provided funding allows. She encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to stay tuned to yestoyuba.com and social media for upcoming opportunities to showcase their businesses.

Overall, the “Shark Tank” inspired event was a success, highlighting the innovative spirit and entrepreneurial drive of Yuba County’s small business community.
