Necessary development skills include software design, simulation development, and software integration. Candidates will design and model simulations for virtual representations of ground vehicles and are skilled at simulation development for virtual and constructive type simulations. Torch is seeking candidates with these qualities and experience that work well with a multidisciplinary team. Candidate will work directly with customers supporting the Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC). Candidate must be able to work in person daily at the Torch Michigan office located in Sterling Heights/Detroit, MI. Candidate should be trustworthy, dependable, and self-motivated, eager to overcome challenges and solve problems, as well as being a U.S. citizen. Previous experience working within a DoD environment is a plus, but not required.Job RequirementsQualified candidates will have direct experience with the following:

  • Applicant must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Proficient in Java, Object Oriented Programming, and programming in backend environments.
  • Proficient in software development, architectures, frameworks, prototyping and design.
  • Strong understanding of how to perform quality software testing like unit testing.
  • The ability to work with large codebases and legacy code.
  • Experience with Java debugging.
  • Experience with markdown languages.

Qualified candidates will have an interest or experience in one of the following areas:

  • Background and knowledge of Ground Vehicles systems and subsystems and how to develop simulations for digital twins of them.
  • Understanding of how to quantify and analyze results from Human-in-the-loop simulations.
  • Strong understanding for integrating complex software packages such as networking Unreal Engine with other distributed simulations.
  • Experience with source control repositories such as Git and Gitlab.
  • Interest or experience in large scale simulations.
  • Strength in developing concise and performant modules within existing frameworks.
  • Expert and hands on experience with Kafka, JSON data formats, and/or ANT.
  • Deep architectural understanding of system design.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • B.S or greater in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or technical discipline is required. Relevant graduate degrees will be given preference.
  • 0-2 years of experience.
