The Escanaba softball team put on a dominating performance in a Great Northern Conference doubleheader against Kingsford on Wednesday. Behind four home runs and stellar pitching, the Eskymos secured a sweep with scores of 13-0 and 15-0.
In game one, junior Katey Lamb delivered a three-run home run to extend the lead to 12-0. Pitcher Maddy Mott threw a hitless five innings with three strikeouts to shut down the Flivvers.
Game two saw more offensive fireworks from Escanaba, with Emma Wisler hitting a two-run homer and Chloe Dubord adding a two-run shot of her own. Harlee Coolman made a successful return to the pitching mound, earning the win with a shutout performance.
Head coach Andy Fields praised the team’s total effort, highlighting the contributions of every player on the roster. Carly Bowden, Katey Lamb, and Chloe Dubord led the offensive charge with multiple hits and RBIs in both games.
The Eskymos now look ahead to a busy weekend with three games scheduled in Lowell. They will face tough competition in Lakewood, Lowell, and Rockford as they aim to continue their winning streak.
Escanaba’s strong showing against Kingsford has set the tone for a successful season, and the team is eager to carry that momentum into their upcoming matchups.
