The Escanaba softball team closed out their 2024 regular season in dominating fashion with a doubleheader sweep against Menominee. In the first game, Escanaba cruised to a 16-0 victory behind a stellar performance from junior Grayson LaMarche. LaMarche went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, double, four RBI, and also pitched four perfect innings with 11 strikeouts.
The Eskymos wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. They continued to pile on the runs, with big hits from Carly McInerney, Katey Lamb, and McKenzie Engebretson. LaMarche and Carly Bowden also contributed with key hits to extend the lead to 14-0 after three innings. LaMarche sealed the win with a two-run home run in the fourth.
In the second game, Escanaba continued their offensive onslaught, scoring 11 runs in the first inning alone. Landry Bray and Madison Mott delivered big hits, while Lamb and Bowden added to the run total. The Eskymos cruised to an 18-0 victory, with Mott striking out five batters in three innings of work.
Engebretson and Bray led the offensive charge in the second game, with Noblet also contributing with a home run and double. The Eskymos now turn their attention to the playoffs, starting with a matchup against Kingsford in Cheboygan. A win in the district semifinals would set up a championship showdown with either Sault Ste. Marie or Cheboygan. The Eskymos are poised for a deep playoff run after their dominant regular season performance.
