EuropeActive Appoints New CEO and Elects Board Members

EuropeActive, the leading not-for-profit organization promoting fitness, physical activity, and healthy living in Europe, has announced Kai Troll as its new CEO following the strong results of its 2023 General Assembly election. The appointment was made during EuropeActive’s 23rd Annual General Assembly held in Cologne, Germany, attended by members from all over Europe.

Kai Troll, a former consultant with the Boston Consulting Group and director at the Special Olympics in Europe and Eurasia, will take over as CEO on May 1, 2024, succeeding Andreas Paulsen. Paulsen expressed confidence in Troll’s ability to lead EuropeActive into its “next great chapter,” citing his extensive experience in association management and strategy.

Additionally, John Treharne and Jana Havrdova were re-elected to EuropeActive’s board of directors, with Katarina Andersson and Nathalie Schwartz joining as new board members. David Stalker, president of EuropeActive, thanked attendees for their support and praised Andreas Paulsen for his exceptional service over the past four years.

Looking ahead, EuropeActive’s board of directors will focus on developing the organization’s strategy for 2030, to be presented at the General Assembly in April 2025. The board will also begin the process of appointing Paulsen’s successor, who will be introduced to members in a year. With the most successful financial results in its history in 2023, EuropeActive is poised for continued growth and impact in the health and fitness industry.
