The European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations (ECTAA) have announced that Macao will be the host city of the “ECTAA 2025 Macao Summit” and its “Preferred Destination 2025.” This exciting news was revealed at the 12th Macao International Travel Expo, where key figures from the tourism industry gathered to celebrate this significant milestone.

The summit, set to bring together member associations from 30 countries in Europe, will provide a unique opportunity to showcase Macao’s “tourism +” offerings to top travel agents and tour operators. This initiative aims to expand international visitor markets and promote Macao as a preferred destination for European travelers.

During the announcement ceremony, the Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, emphasized the importance of these initiatives in raising Macao’s profile and attracting more visitors from Europe. The President of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT), Pedro Costa Ferreira, also highlighted the significance of bringing together European markets with Macao’s tourism sector.

The Vice President of ECTAA, Heli Mäki-Fränti, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that it will strengthen relations between Macao and European travel professionals. The summit will gather heads of travel associations from 30 European countries for the General Assembly and Board Meeting, providing them with firsthand experience of Macao’s development as a tourism hub.

In addition to hosting the summit, ECTAA will promote Macao as its Preferred Destination 2025 through various channels, including information materials, websites, and social media. This strategic partnership aims to boost tourism economy and diversify Macao’s development in the international market.
