Everything You Need To Know About T20 World Cup 2024: Dates, Groups, and Venues

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is set to kick off on June 2, with the USA facing off against Canada in their first-ever World Cup match on home soil. Co-hosted by the West Indies, this tournament marks the return of a senior men’s ICC event to the Caribbean since the 2010 T20 World Cup.

Rovman Powell will lead the West Indies team as they aim for a record third title in the shortest international format. Meanwhile, defending champions England will be looking to secure their third title after their victory over Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup Final.

Indian cricket fans are hopeful as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli lead the charge to end India’s trophy drought. The last major ICC trophy India won was under MS Dhoni’s leadership in the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Australia also has a shot at making history by holding the 50-over World Cup trophy, the 20-over World Cup title, and the World Test Championship crown if they emerge victorious in this tournament.

In addition to the established teams, debutants Canada and Uganda will be making their ICC T20 World Cup debuts in 2024. The tournament will feature 55 matches in total, culminating in the final on June 29 at Barbados’ Kensington Oval.

With an exciting format that includes four groups of five teams each, the top two from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage. The tournament promises to be a thrilling spectacle with matches scheduled across six stadiums in the Caribbean and three in the United States. Cricket fans can expect a month-long celebration of the shortest format of the game, culminating in an epic final showdown.
